Our True Liquid Soaps are made with all Organic food grade base oils, except for the Castor Oil. Each batch is heated for up to 8 hours to create a true natural liquid soap, a labor of love. Naturally derived conditioners and thickeners such as honey, soy protein, extra vegetable glycerin, and other plant based ingredients are added after the cook. Glycerin is produced naturally during the saponification process, and we add an extra quantity after the cook. These are a true liquid vegetable oil soap, made basically the same way that soap was made here in the colonies before sodium hydroxide (lye) was commercially available. We use potassium hydroxide, otherwise known as potash to make this. Back in the day, water was run through leftover wood ashes repeatedly to create potash. We buy ours! Natural liquid vegetable oil soaps are completely different. They have a natural silky feel and do not bubble up quite as much as a commercial soap. These provide a low creamy lather, conditioning and cleansing that would be beneficial for dry, dehydrated and brittle hair. They're also wonderful as a shaving soap, providing a nice glide for your razor. In a pinch they can be used as a cleansing water free hand gel. Simply queeze a bit into your palm, rub to distribute and wipe your hands. We use no harsh ingredients such as SLS, which are known to contribute to hair loss, dandruff etc. We make these in two versions. The scented version contains Lavender Essential Oil and NO artificial fragrance. The Fragrance Free version is unscented except for the gentle scent of the oils used in the soap. You can add your own essential or fragrance oil to either one of these to create your own unique scent. They can be used on hands, body, hair and most faces. For use on the hair, these can be used daily or weekly to detoxify, moisturize and remove commercial hair product buildup without drying. The color is a natural translucent amber - no color is added. As with any soap, you should avoid using this in your eyes. When adding your own oils to this, add in small amounts at a time and roll the bottle around gently to distribute. You can also add additional oils such as grapeseed, olive etc.
