All of our emulsions now contain the same basic organic ingredients: organic base oils, organic aloe vera juice or organic whole leaf aloe vera gel, water etc. The honey and beeswax are not designated as organic. However the beekeeper does not fertilize the wildflowers where his bees live. The emulsifiers (veg based palm stearic and emulsifying wax) are not organic and are used at up to 10% of the emulsion. Non-paraben preservatives are used at up to 1% in total. These are guaranteed fresh for up to 12 months. The difference between a cream or balm and a lotion? The creams, balms and parfaits contain more of the thicker ingredients such as beeswax, prime pressed cocoa butter and extra virgin organic shea butter. These contain no scent, essential oils only for scent or scented at 1-2%. The ingredients are listed for each and when a bit of fragrance is used, it is usually in the 1% range in addition to any essential oils. The parfaits all contain approximately 1% of fragrance along with the essential oils, a minute quantity of carbomer (.02%) and a few drops of FDC glycerin food color. Many of our creams and balms already contain pure unrefined honey and as new batches are made, the rest will now contain this wonderful ingredient for it's soothing and antibacterial properties. We buy our honey directly from a beekeeper to ensure quality in our emulsions. Vanilla tends to counteract color in emulsions - particularly those that also contain citrus essential oils. We use FDC food color in very minute quantities. Because we do not use chemical color stabilizers in our emulsions and use food color rather than stronger synthetics, with time or if they are left in strong uv light, the color may change a bit in those containing vanilla. This is cosmetic only and does not affect the scent, texture or use. Experience tells us that many clients like a little color in their emulsions so we use color in the EO\FO blends. It also makes it easier to identify the many blends we do. In the future, we may not use color in many of our blends that contain vanilla or citrus oils. They will be exactly the same, just not colored. All are packed in large 9 oz glass jars and last a long time. As with our lotions, these all contain high quality food grade and organic oils sourced from a restaurant supplier, and are protected with our paraben free preservation blend. All will stay fresh for 12 - 18 months. Since these are open jars, dip in with clean hands and enjoy these wonderful confections!
