All of our emulsions now contain the same basic organic ingredients: organic base oils, organic aloe vera juice or organic whole leaf aloe vera gel, water etc. The honey and beeswax are not designated as organic. However the beekeeper does not fertilize the wildflowers where his bees live. The emulsifiers (veg based palm stearic and emulsifying wax) are not organic and are used at up to 10% of the emulsion. Non-paraben preservatives are used at up to 1% in total. These are guaranteed fresh for up to 12 months. Some of these can be quite thick. We're formulating some of the new blends a bit thinner for ease of use. They will still leave a nice balm effect and be easier to apply. All now contain up to 85% organic oils and butters. As new batches are made, most now contain pure unrefined honey for it's soothing and antibacterial properties and beeswax to protect. We buy our honey directly from a beekeeper to ensure high quality in our emulsions. Some of these contain only essential oils for scent ("EO Blend" in title) and others have a bit of fragrance added (1-2%) to enhance the scent. The scent for essential oil only blends is sometimes milder than those that contain fragrance so if you're looking for a bit stronger scent that can also be worn as a fragrance, select a custom fragrance blend that contains both. Or apply a second light layer of the EO blend. Either way they are all very natural. Essential oils or fragrances are added while the lotion batches are still warm for a more stable and long lasting emulsion. We buy our base oils and butters from a large supplier to restaurants. They are mainly food grade, fresh and of high quality. For example, our prime pressed cocoa butter is nicer than that used by many candy makers - it smells very strongly of rich cocoa and is softer than the more refined deodorized variety. Our lotions are mildly preserved without parabens and will stay fresh under reasonable use for 12 - 18 months. These are packed in 8 oz plastic bottles with dispensing caps. All are priced according to essential oil content. Bubbles?? These are packed right up to the top. We try to settle batches before bottling but some are bottled while warm. Minor settling will occur and tiny air bubbles may appear during the first month as they settle in. Shake gently once or as needed. Vanilla tends to counteract color in emulsions - particularly those that also contain citrus essential oils. We use FDC food color in very minute quantities. Because we do not use chemical color stabilizers in our emulsions and use food color rather than stronger synthetics, with time or if they are left in strong uv light (a no-no), the color may change a bit in those containing vanilla. This is cosmetic only and does not affect the scent, texture or use. However, sustained storage in extreme conditions will reduce their life. Experience tells us that many clients like a little color in their emulsions so we use color in some EO\FO blends. In the future, we're moving toward both no color and food based colors, which can be difficult to formulate. ***And last but not least - some blends may or may not contain organic aloe vera juice or gel, grapefruit seed extract and or citric acid in addition to the listed ingredients in the web descriptions. In general the EO only blends usually do contain these. All are always listed on each product's label. We may not have updated the site yet for specific batches. Please feel free to inquire about these ingredients in the current batch!*** |
